Come Bet

Definition

A craps bet that works like a pass line bet but can be made after the come-out roll. Establishes its own point number. House edge of 1.41%. Can be backed with odds for a combined lower edge.

A come bet in craps functions exactly like a pass line bet but can be placed after the come-out roll. Once placed, the next roll serves as the come bet's come-out roll: it wins on 7 or 11, loses on 2, 3, or 12, and any other number becomes its point. The house edge is 1.41%, identical to the pass line.

Come bets allow players to have multiple working numbers simultaneously. You can place a pass line bet on the come-out, then follow with come bets on subsequent rolls. Each come bet establishes its own independent point, and you can back each with odds bets at zero house edge.

The strategy of making continuous come bets (placing a new come bet on every roll) is popular among experienced craps players. With two or three come bets working plus a pass line bet, all backed with maximum odds, you have multiple numbers covered at the best possible house edge. However, this requires a larger bankroll because a 7 loses all working bets simultaneously.
